Caritas is recruiting Residential Support Workers passionate about working with children with a learning disability, autistic spectrum disorder and challenging behaviours. As Residential Support Worker, you will support 8 – 18 year olds within a stunning Special Education Needs school with residential services on site. The school is based in Surbiton, Kingston upon Thames and you will support students with aspects of their daily living and activities. The service operates 24/7. As Residential Support Worker, you will work 36.5 hours a week: early shifts, late shifts and weekend-working on a rotational basis. Due to the location of the school, access to a vehicle is advantageous. This is a permanent role paying £8.55 per hour. Job Description: To provide residential child care service to children and young people placed in the service To provide a home with the emotional, material and educational support To ensure that the full potential of the children and young people is reached To provide a therapeutic environment, where the young people feel safe and cared for To ensure the welfare of the children and young people is paramount Job Requirements: To be part of a professional team providing the care and control of a residential group To assume the role of link worker To be responsible for keeping all necessary written reports up to date and informing seniors of any changes in care needs To ensure that all records and monies are kept safe To supervise access visits where required To provide advice and support To provide personal care e.g. feeding, washing, dressing, Required Applicant Attributes: NVQ Level 2 in children and young people (or equivalent, recognised qualification) Ability work as part of a team Ability to maintain professional boundaries at all times Passionate about working with children and young people with learning disabilities, emotional and behavioural difficulties Ability to work flexibly, to a shift pattern on a rotational basis; including weekend working.
