Residential Child Care Officer
Residential Childcare Officers - Childrens Homes - Somerset I am recruiting permanent Residential Childcare Officers to provide support in residential homes dedicated to the care and education of young people aged between 5 - 18. The shift patterns are 2 x 24 (including sleeping hours) worked (back to back) followed by 4 x 24 hours rest period. These shift patterns provide excellent continuity for the children and enable staff to build a better relationship with the residents. This can be on a 1:1 or 2:1 ratio of staff to young people. Please Note - The rota determines shift location across 3 homes around the Minehead area. It is therefore essential that you are a car owner as public transport is particularly challenging in these remote locations. The purpose of the role is to provide 24 hour care, support and security to the young people you are responsible for under the direction of the management teams. My client provides a holistic approach to care and education. Each staffing team is supported by therapists and counsellors. The majority of young people are referred through local authorities throughout Great Britain. Many will have come from traumatised backgrounds and will show instances of challenging behaviour. This is an excellent opportunity for a a candidate already working in Childrens and Young Peoples services. The successful candidate will need to hold a level 3 NVQ in childrens and young peoples services or equivalent and have at least 2 years experience of working with children, preferably in a residential setting. Applicants holding their NVQ level 2 are also welcome as my client can offer the Level 3 qualification at a separate cost agreement to be discussed at interview. The company offers a competitive salary, six weeks holiday entitlement (based on shifts worked) and the option of completing further training and career development.
